Verizon Iphone 4 Jailbreak on iOS 4.2.8 using Sn0wBreeze

Do you have a Verizon Iphone 4 on iOS 4.2.8 and are wanting to jailbreak it?  I have been jailbreaking Iphones and taking them to their full limits and potential for over 3 years and have to say that you’ll never enjoy the full capabilities of the Iphone if you don’t jailbreak it.  With customized themes, and free games and apps, there’s no reason to not jailbreak it, considering that jailbreaking your Iphone costs nothing but you time, about 5 minutes at that as the jailbreaking software is free!  Yes, you read that right, the jailbreaking software is available at no cost, so what are you waiting for?  Continue reading on and we’ll help you through the process and explain some tips and perks to jailbreaking your device.

For this tutorial, we will be using Sn0wbreeze as the jailbreaking software, the download link for this software can be found at http://www.iH8Sn0w.com (0 is a zero, not an o).  Once you go to this site, select the appropriate download link and install it onto the computer.  Once downloaded and installed, you will need to connect your Iphone to the computer via the USB cable as if you were syncing it with iTunes.  One thing I always recommend to jailbreakers is that you back up your Iphone with iTunes so that you can restore you Iphone to its original state which is great because if you have issues with your Iphone after the jailbreaking process has completed, you can restore it meaning that it will be like new right out of the box.

So once your Iphone is connected to your computer via the USB cable, you will need to open up the Sn0wBreeze software and it will ask you to put your Iphone into DFU mode.  This is done by holding down the “Power” button and the “Home” button at the same time for exactly ten seconds, once you’re at ten seconds, release the “Power” button while still holding in the “Home” button until you get a notification from Sn0wBreeze saying that it has detected your device in “Recover Mode” (DFU Mode).  You will then be prompted with some information on the jailbreaking process and will be able to click “Start”.  Once you start the process, the rest of the process is automated and Sn0wBreeze will take care of the rest.  Give Sn0wBreeze about 5 minutes to complete the process and when it’s done, you will be notified that it’s safe to disconnect your Iphone.

Once the jailbreaking process is completed, disconnect your Iphone 4 and scroll through the pages on your Iphone until you see the new application installed called “Cydia”.  Go into Cydia and go to “Sources”, and then “Manage” and then “Add” and add “Installous” as a source and install it.  Once it has finished downloading and installing, go back to your pages and look for that application and open it.  You will now be able to download all games and apps for free that are available in the Apple App store as Installous has every App available that’s in the Apple App store.  Downloading App from Installous only takes a matter of a couple minutes even if not on wifi and you can even download all of the updates for Apps as well when they come out.  You have now successfully jailbroken your Iphone and no longer have to worry about paying for your Apps or Games.  We also recommend adding “Winterboard” as one of the sources in Cydia, this will allow you to place all of your downloaded customized themes here from Cydia so your downloads will stay organized in one place.

Jailbreaking the iPhone 4S iOS 5 Untethered

Want to Jailbreak your IPhone 4S but don’t know how? There are plenty of benefits to Jailbreaking your iPhone and without taking on the risk of something happening to your iPhone 4S. One thing we recommend when Jailbreaking  your IPhone is that you sync it/back it up to iTunes should you have any issues or problems jailbreaking your iPhone, you will be able to restore it to its original state. When you jailbreak your iPhone 4S, it also voids your warranty so backing it up will also allow you to revert back to its original state encase you ever need to take your iPhone into an Apple store. Many people don’t take this step seriously but it’s highly recommended as some have encountered problems afterwards.

Okay, so now you have your phone backed up and your ready to start the jail breaking process, the first thing you need to do is to put your IPhone in DFU Mode. NOTE: If you’re looking to Jailbreak an iPhone4 we have another article with detailed instructions. This is done by having your IPhone connected to iTunes and holding down the “Home Key” and the “Sleep” button at the same time for exactly 10 seconds, you then release the “Sleep” button while continuing to hold the “Home Key” button until the dialog box appears saying that “iTunes has detected an IPhone Recovery Mode”.

Once your IPhone is in DFU Mode, download Tiny Umbrella (TheFirmwareUmbrella.com) onto your computer so that you will be able to jail break your IPhone. Tiny Umbrella is one of the most reliable jail breaking software’s that you can use and it’s also 100% free so there are no risks and no cost! TinyUmbrella will detect your IPhone in DFU mode and the TinyUmbrella dialog box will then appear which will allow you to Jailbreak your device which only takes a few minutes.

It is an automated process from here on, TinyUmbrella will take care of the rest of the Jail breaking process and you will be notified by a pop up that it is completed and that your IPhone is ready to be disconnected. Now that your IPhone is jail broken, you will notice a new program on your phone called “Cydia“, go into Cydia and under Manage, click on “Sources”, and then click on “Edit”, once you have done this, go to “Add” and add the source “Installous”.

This is the Jail broken version of the App Store where you will be able to download all of the games and apps you want for free. If you want to download new themes for your phone, you can also add “Winterboard” as a source and you will be able to easily manage your downloaded themes. Have fun with your new IPhone 4S, once Jail broken, there isn’t anything you can’t do with it!

Step 1 – Putting Your Phone in DFU Mode

Connect your IPhone to your computer with the USB cable, open up ITunes, and hold down the Power and Home button down at the same time for exactly 10 seconds, at ten seconds, release the power button while still holding the Home button until a message from ITunes pops up saying “ITunes has detected an IPhone in recovery mode, you must restore the IPhone before it can be used with ITunes.”

Step 2

Now that you are in DFU Mode, you can now download Tiny Umbrella which is the Jail breaking software onto your computer. Once downloaded, it will say that it has detected your IPhone and you will then be able to Jailbreak your IPhone. Besides downloading the software, Step 2 is completely automated as Tiny Umbrella Jailbreaks your device for you.

Step 3

Now that your device is Jail broken, you will notice a new program on your IPhone called “Cydia”. Open up Cydia, go to “Sources’ and then “Add” and add the source called “Installous”. Installous is the Jail broken version of the App store and this is where you will be able to download all of the apps and games for free. Enjoy your Jail broken IPhone :)

We would also recommend that you download Winter Board which can be added as a source through Cydia. Winterboard will allow you to place all of your jail broken downloaded IPhone themes to one place where you will easily be able to remove, add or edit your downloads.

Jailbreaking the iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0.1

Do you have an iPhone 4 iOS 5 and are wanting to jailbreak it?  Today I will be telling you the best and safest way to jailbreak your Iphone 4 running iOS 5.0.1 without risking the loss of the functionality of your phone or your warranty.  One thing you must do before jailbreaking you Iphone 4 is to back it up with Itunes. This will allow you to revert/restore your iPhone to it’s original state if you ever have issues with it. Allowing you to return it to Apple without them ever knowing that you’ve Jailbroken your device in the past, thus keeping your warranty valid.

Once your Iphone 4 has been backed up with Itunes, you are now ready to begin jailbreaking your iPhone. Note: If you’re looking to Jailbreak an iPhone 4S we have another article with step by step instructions. Go to thefirmwareumbrella.com (This is the jailbreaking software you will use to jailbreak your iPhone 4) and download their software onto your computer.

Once downloaded, you need to put your Iphone 4 into DFU mode which is the Iphones recovery mode.  It’s required to be in this mode to complete the jailbreaking process.

Step 1 – Putting Your Phone in DFU Mode

To get into DFU mode – Connect your IPhone to your computer with the USB cable. Open up ITunes, hold down the “Power” button and the “Home” button for exactly ten seconds, once you’re at ten seconds, release the “Power” button while still holding in the home button until you see a pop up from iTunes saying that they have detected an Iphone in DFU mode.

Step 2

Now that your Iphone 4 is in DFU mode, Tiny Umbrella will allow you to select the “Jailbreak” button and the software will then jailbreak your Iphone.  Tiny Umbrella automates the jailbreaking process so this part will be very easy.

Step 3

After about 5-6 minutes, the process should be complete and Tiny Umbrella will show a pop up saying, “Jailbreaking Complete“, it is safe to disconnect your device”.

Step 4

Now that it’s done disconnect your Iphone and you will see a new program installed called “Cydia“.  Cydia is the central point for downloading all of the jailbroken software. Much like the App Store by Apple, you now have two options for downloading applications. The App store and Cydia, Cydia provides you with themes, wallpapers, ringtones, unlimited applications, tools and utilities.

Step 5

Open Cydia and click on “Sources“.  Once you’re in “Sources”, go to “Manage” and then “Add“.  Add the source called “Installous” and “Winterboard“.  Installous is the jailbroken version of the Apple App store and Winterboard is the platform where you can easily manage, add, edit or delete your downloaded themes.

Step 6 – Enjoy the benefits of a Jailbroken iPhone 4

Now that you have Installous and Winterboard, you have successfully completed the process and you can now download all the games, apps and themes for free!  Enjoy your Iphone and have fun with all the free games and apps!

Verizon Iphone 4 on iOS 4.2.6 Jailbreak Using GreenPo1son

Do you want to jailbreak your Iphone 4 on iOS 4.2.6 on the Verizon network? This tutorial will help you do just that. I personally have jailbroken my Iphone 4 on Verizon running 4.2.6 using GreenPo1son since after reading reviews on the GreenPo1son jailbreaking software; it seemed to be a reliable and safe software to use to jailbreak your device. For me, the best part of jailbreaking my device was the free games and apps. If you’re like me, I utilize the great apps and games available on the Apple Iphone and being able to download them at no cost has allowed me to get all of my favorites without needing to worry about paying for them. Though free games and apps was the initial reason I decided to jailbreak my device, I now am excited about being able to customize my phone with themes available through “Cydia” which you will have once you complete the jailbreaking process. I will be using GreenPo1son for this tutorial which is the jailbreaking software you will be using. Follow the tutorial and you should have no problems jailbreaking your device.

 

Step 1

 

Download the Green Po1son jail breaking software onto your desktop, you can do this by going to http://www.GreenPo1son.com and then click “Downloads” at the top and then select the appropriate download.

Step 2

First, open iTunes and make sure your phone is connected to the computer via the USB cable. Next you need to put your Iphone in DFU mode which is a recovery mode and is required to jail break your device. To put your Iphone in DFU mode, hold down the “Power” button and the “Home” button at the same time for ten seconds, at ten seconds, release the “Power” button while still holding the “Home” button until you get a pop up from iTunes saying that it has detected an Iphone in recovery mode.

Step 3

Start the GreenPo1son software by clicking the icon on your desktop. Once the software has opened, you will be able to click “Start” and GreenPo1son will take care of the rest of the process for you. Once started, the rest of the process is automated.

Step 4

Once the jailbreaking is complete, Green Po1son will notify you that the process is done and that is okay to disconnect your Iphone. Go on your phone and you will notice a new program installed called “Cydia”. Open up Cydia; go to “Sources” and then “Manage”. Once you’re in “Manage”, go to “Add” and put in “Installous” and add it as a source. Installous is the jail broken version of the Apple App store and this is where you will be able to download all of the games and apps you want for free. If it’s in the Apple App store, it’s on Installous.

You have now successfully jailbroken your Iphone 4 on Verizon on iOS 4.2.6.
